Luke 7:11-17

Luke 7:11-17, Now it happened, the day after, that He went into a city called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and a large crowd. 12 And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her. 13 When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” 14 Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” 15 So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother. 16 Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has risen up among us”; and, “God has visited His people.” 17 And this report about Him went throughout all Judea and all the surrounding region.

God visited us! Everyone of us dead were made alive!

Luke 1:68, “Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, For He has visited and redeemed His people, Christmas is a time of celebration of God visiting us.
Exodus 2:23-25, Now it happened in the process of time that the king of Egypt died. Then the children of Israel groaned because of the bondage, and they cried out; and their cry came up to God because of the bondage. 24 So God heard their groaning, and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. 25 And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God acknowledged them.
Exodus 3:7-8, And the Lord said: “I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. 8 So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites.
Exodus 3:16, Go and gather the elders of Israel together, and say to them, ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared to me, saying, “I have surely visited you and seen what is done to you in Egypt;

When God visits you then you can’t remain the same person! As shepherd of God needs to look after the sheep. Protection, Feeding, and Leading. Sheep are such an innocent animal. Apart from the above 3 jobs the shepherd needs to train the sheep.

Psalms 18:6, In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears.
Psalms 18:16-18, He sent from above, He took me; He drew me out of many waters. 17 He delivered me from my strong enemy, From those who hated me, For they were too strong for me. 18 They confronted me in the day of my calamity, But the Lord was my support.

God who delivered them. God who heard their cry. God who delivered them. Sheep also very lazy.

They just laze around and some never develop anything other than just exist. There are people in the church are very happy that they are Sunday Christians. They may exist in the church for years together but never take any opportunity to evangelise or do something in the Kingdom.

They always look inside the church for something not for the Kingdom.

Psalms 18:37-38, I have pursued my enemies and overtaken them; Neither did I turn back again till they were destroyed. 38 I have wounded them, So that they could not rise; They have fallen under my feet.

It was not God but me.

How?

How did the transformation take place?

Psalms 144:1, Blessed be the Lord my Rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle—

How does God train us for war? The term "trains"here refers to an exercise in learning.

You may not know why you are in a battle, but you can be sure God wants to teach you something. He is walking you through an exercise in learning. God's boot camp involves teaching us to depend on Him. If we never faced a battle, we would never learn to lean on God for strength and protection. From the moment we put our faith in God for salvation, we are to depend on him for everything.

Psalms 18:34, He teaches my hands to make war, So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
Psalms 18:39, For You have armed me with strength for the battle; You have subdued under me those who rose up against me.

God wants to train everyone of us a war horse so that the kingdom can expand rapidly. Church and Christians are walking like a dead giant. Time to wake up and train ourselves to the spiritual battle. Think about how the army is training every day.

Why?

Why can’t they just take time off when there is no war?

1 Timothy 4:8, Bodily fitness has a certain value, but spiritual fitness is essential both for this present life and for the life to come. (Philipps)

What is the problem? Umbilical cord is not cut off.

Ezekiel 16:4, As for your nativity, on the day you were born your navel cord was not cut, nor were you washed in water to cleanse you; you were not rubbed with salt nor wrapped in swaddling cloths. Baby in a mother’s womb is nourished by the umbilical cord.

But when the baby comes out the cord needs to be cut. Have you been cut of from the umbilical cord? Family, Relationship, Your past, Failures, Pastor?

What kind of a warrior you can become? Mass evangelist!

2 Samuel 23:8, These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Josheb-Basshebeth the Tachmonite, chief among the captains. He was called Adino the Eznite, because he had killed eight hundred men at one time. Bible Teacher!
2 Samuel 23:9-10, And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David when they defied the Philistines who were gathered there for battle, and the men of Israel had retreated. 10 He arose and attacked the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand stuck to the sword. The Lord brought about a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to plunder. Local Pastor.
2 Samuel 23:11, And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. The Philistines had gathered together into a troop where there was a piece of ground full of lentils. So the people fled from the Philistines. Giving water to the thirst!
2 Samuel 23:13-16, Then three of the thirty chief men went down at harvest time and came to David at the cave of Adullam. And the troop of Philistines encamped in the Valley of Rephaim. 14 David was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem. 15 And David said with

longing, “Oh, that someone would give me a drink of the water from the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!” 16 So the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines, drew water from the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate, and took it and brought it to David. Nevertheless he would not drink it, but poured it out to the Lord.

Isaiah 55:1, “Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk Without money and without price.
John 4:14, But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a fount of water springing up to eternal life."
John 7:37-38, On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
